International Travel Fund
Broaden your horizons with international travel that supports your future career.
The International Travel Fund is available for 2026/27.
Are you hoping to embark on an international travel placement or study trip abroad during 2026/27? If so, you could be eligible for up to £650 of funding to make your travel plans a reality.
The International Travel Fund provides successful applicants with a financial contribution towards undertaking a work placement or study trip abroad, which goes beyond their studies at BSU and has a direct impact on their future career. The scheme is provided by the Careers and Employability Service (C&E) at BSU.
Criteria
To be eligible for the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ International Travel Fund, you must meet the following criteria.
- You must be a ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ student studying at either Newton Park, Sion Hill, Locksbrook, Corsham Court or BSU London (Hackney or Canary Wharf). Students studying at our Educational Partner institutes or other providers and students on exchange programmes, distance learning or other modes of study are not eligible.
- You must be a current, fully enrolled student both at the time of application and at the time the international trip takes place.
Activity Criteria
The overseas activity should be future career orientated and ‘super-curricula’ in nature. This means you’ll be undertaking work or study activity that will enable you to explore your degree subject beyond the course requirements. Moreover, the activity must clearly benefit your future career aspirations and enhance your employability.
The activity must:
- Be undertaken outside of the UK.
- Start and complete between 1 September 2026 - 15 September 2027. For final year students the activity must complete at least one month before your course end date
- Not have already started. Applications for retrospective funding will not be considered.
The Fund cannot be used to support:
- Assessed and/or compulsory elements of a student’s degree course or course field trips (including semester abroad). Students undertaking the BSU Professional Placement Year (PPY) may be considered.
- Trips to areas/countries deemed high risk – see the for guidance.
- Trips to the recipient's home country.
- Trips that are not wholly for work experience or study related activity (i.e. holidays, personal travel, etc., are not eligible activities).
Applicants in receipt of other BSU travel-related awards to support the activity (e.g. GALA, Turing schemes, etc.) will not be eligible. Applicants in receipt of other Careers and Employability Service schemes or other BSU funding to support the activity may be given lower priority.
Students should be aware that this is a competitive scheme with limited funds. There is no guarantee that an application will be successful. You are strongly advised not to commit to an activity unless you have the means to support it.
Please ensure that you read the Fund Terms and Conditions before applying.
Application deadlines
There is a rolling deadline of the 1st of the month. Applications will close once funds deplete or at 9am on 1 July 2027, whichever occurs first.
