Personal statement
Dr Victoria Walters is a Digital Learning Developer developing and promoting ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿'s training and support for academic staff and students, with a particular focus on the tools and platforms through which academic courses are delivered and improving the student experience of the online University.
Tasks include assisting with the development of training and related materials, delivering live online training workshops, creating self-help video tutorials, either answering or triaging individual enquiries and working closely with the University’s Academic Developers and IT Services to holistically improve the way students engage with their academic studies online.
In addition to her role as Digital Learning Developer, Victoria is an academic in the field of Visual Culture and holds a PhD in Visual Culture, a MA in Digital Media, a PGDip in Fine Art and a BA (Hons) in European Studies.
She continues to write on issues in Visual Culture; to date, her research has largely focused on the work of 20th Century German artist Joseph Beuys and she has published widely on the artist, giving conference papers at art institutions in the UK and overseas, often by invitation.
Victoria is a HEA Fellow and has taught students from first year to PhD level, supervising her first PhD student to completion in 2020. She is interested in how teaching in Visual Culture has been – and continues to be - affected by the Covid pandemic, climate emergency and developments in technology.
She has also taught Art and Design at several Universities and has a studio practice which feeds into her research and writing.
