Personal statement
Milenne is a Senior Lecturer in 3D Modelling Game Art Extended Realities (XR) at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿, teaching within the Creative Computing Department. Her background spans games, visual effects, museums, and interactive media, with a career built on using 3D and immersive technologies across a range of creative and commercial contexts.
Her teaching covers 2D Game Art, 3D Game Art – including 3D environments and 3D character creation – Games Development, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Web 3D. She specialises in the full games art workflow, always teaching the latest industry-standard tools and techniques, from concept and modelling to texturing, lighting, and real-time rendering in game engines. As a game art lecturer, she is passionate about the craft itself – the artistry of building immersive worlds, the precision of character design, and the technical skill required to bring creative vision to life. Her focus is on preparing students for careers in the games industry by building their confidence, nurturing their creativity, and helping them develop the technical and artistic skills they need to succeed.
Before joining Bath Spa in 2024, Milenne worked across a range of sectors – from visual effects for film (The Chronicles of Narnia) to 3D interactive DVDs for the BBC, Warner Bros., and Pathé. She also ran her own business developing Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality experiences for a range of clients. Her visualisation work was instrumental in securing new cycle lanes for the London Cycling Campaign, and she designed the "Safer Lorry, Safer London" vehicle for a campaign reaching the European Parliament. She also created some of the first online VR experiences for museums in Spain, including the Salón de Reinos in Madrid, the Wax Museum, and the Chocolate Museum in Barcelona.
Her wider interests lie in sustainability and ecological engagement. She is the Project Lead for the Eco-Explorers game, an adaptive gaming platform that raises awareness of coastal resilience in Somerset, translating complex scientific and ecological knowledge into an engaging digital experience.
Milenne's current research interests lie in how digital tools – particularly 3D scanning, game engines, and XR – can support restoration, land management, and sustainable living in rural areas. She is driven by a deep interest in the environment and sustainability, not only in how people connect with place, but in how digital technology can contribute to a more sustainable future – one where heritage, ecology, and community can thrive together.
