Personal statement
Hollie is an Associate Lecturer in Computer science and Creative Computing. She has a PhD in Theoretical Computer Science, focusing on computer algebra.
Hollie has industry experience working at a local company who build web-based patient management systems, where she worked as part of an agile development team and qualified as a Certified Scrum Master.
Alongside her work at BSU, Hollie is also working with Bristol Braille Technology, a not-for-profit organisation who design and build multi-line refreshable Braille products. She is currently working on a project to enhance support for mathematics on the Canute Scientific, Bristol Braille's STEM workstation (which you will often see her using for her work at BSU), creating interactive documentation, and adding multi-line Braille support to Orca, the Linux screenreader.
As a Braille reader herself, Hollie is excited to be working on a project that will improve access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics for blind people, and allow them to collaborate with their sighted colleagues on an equal footing.
