Personal statement
Faye is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ and the research lead for Criminal Justice Research in the School of Sciences. Faye is also the co-course leader for a short course in criminology for prison learners, Collaborative Criminology.
Her PhD research focused on men convicted and imprisoned for rape. The qualitative research was undertaken in prisons in England and Wales to examine how men with sexual convictions manage the stigmatisation associated with their offence and to investigate the purpose of denial, particularly in wings/prisons which only house men convicted of sexual offences. The research also explores how men convicted of rape discuss sexual consent. This research was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
Faye’s other research and knowledge exchange activity focuses on the provision of higher education in prisons and sexual violence within relationships.
Faye teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate criminology modules.
She is module leader for:
- Victims and Victimisation
- Unlocking Criminology (a module where students learn alongside prisoners in a prison in England and Wales)
- Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) to Criminal Justice System (CJS).
