Personal statement
Annie Sheldon is a Lecturer in Law within the Bath Business School, having joined the University in September 2025.
Annie graduated from Bristol University with a First-Class Honours degree in Law with Study Abroad LLB, having completed a year of her degree at the University of Queensland in Australia where she received a Dean’s Commendation for High Academic Performance. After completing her undergraduate degree, Annie undertook the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in Bristol where she graduated with Distinction.
Following her LPC, Annie trained and qualified as a solicitor at marking-leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell LLP where she specialised in complex personal injury and medical negligence, including cases involving brain and spinal cord injuries. Whilst at Irwin Mitchell, Annie also led on several social mobility outreach projects with local universities and volunteered as a mentor with organisations such as Aspiring Solicitors, allowing her to support undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue a career in law.
Post-qualification, Annie received a fully-funded scholarship from global charitable foundation The Wellcome Trust to undertake the LLM in Health, Law and Society at the University of Bristol from which she graduated with Distinction and received the award for Best Performance on her LLM pathway. During this time, Annie also worked part-time as a Research Assistant on an Institute of Medical Ethics-funded study examining the role of altruism in organ donation and surrogacy.
In her role at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿, Annie has designed and developed an undergraduate Medical Law module which encourages students to adopt both a critical and practice-focused approach to their studies of medical and healthcare law.
Outside of her teaching and research, Annie works closely with Director of Law and External Engagement Lead Steve Goulton to develop relationships with local legal organisations and support the successful career progression of our students.
