Students come together for Welcome Week 2026

Tuesday, 22 September, 2026

Welcome Week 2026 brought together a packed programme of events across ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿, running from 11 to 20 September across various campuses and around the city.

Whether students wanted to try something new, meet fellow students, find a new society or simply enjoy some time with friends, there was something for everyone.

Welcome Week is about helping students discover the people, places and groups that make up life at BSU. With activities including societies and student groups, sports and creative sessions, students had plenty of opportunities to try something they might not have considered before.

The Activity Fair gave a chance for students to explore the many ways they can get involved beyond their studies. From creative activities and sports to societies and student groups, the fair gave students the opportunity to find out more about the activities available at BSU and meet others with similar interests. For new students especially, getting involved in an activity or society can be a great way to meet people and find a community at university.

The Welcome Fair brought together teams, groups and organisations to help students make the most of their university experience. With plenty to see and do, it was an opportunity to discover the support, activities and opportunities available throughout the year, while picking up information and meeting people from across the BSU community.

The Welcome Week programme was packed with activities, with something to suit every mood. Students could get creative with clay and sip, paint and sip, poster making and LEGO board games, or take part in activities including disco bingo, bingo and quiz events.

The programme also included activities such as street food pop-ups, ultimate buffet, sports activities and games nights. There were also opportunities to explore Bath, including a Roman Baths trip and other activities around the city.

Music and entertainment were also part of the week, with live music, live music quiz and acoustic sessions adding to the Welcome Week atmosphere.

There were also opportunities to find out more about student life, including the University Challenge, part-time jobs fair, library sessions and student support activities.

Reflecting on Welcome Week, Director of Campus Life, Liz Eyles said:

"It was great to see campus come to life with the start of the new academic year and to welcome new and returning students to ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿. Students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with campus, learn about their courses, join some of the amazing clubs and societies at BSU and find out about the support and services available from the university"

Whilst Welcome Week may be over, the opportunities to get involved are only just beginning. With societies, activities, events and student groups taking place throughout the year, there are plenty of ways to keep meeting people, trying new things and making the most of university life.
