ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ celebrates first combined London graduation ceremony
Monday, 12 October, 2026ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ was proud to host its first ever London graduation ceremony, welcoming over 130 students from BSU London Canary Wharf and BSU London Hackney to celebrate their academic achievements.
Shoreditch Town Hall provided the backdrop to the landmark occasion, with students from both London sites arriving to graduate from a range of courses, including Business and Management and Health and Social Care.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿'s continued growth in the capital, bringing together students, staff, friends and family to recognise the hard work and dedication of its first London cohort of graduates.
Academics based in both London and Bath attended the celebrations, with ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿'s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Georgina Andrews, taking centre stage to welcome each student and congratulate them on their achievements.
Reflecting on the event, Professor Andrews said:
“It was a real privilege to celebrate the achievements of our brilliant ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ London students from our Hackney and Canary Wharf campuses at this weekend’s graduation ceremony. As we celebrate our first London cohort of graduates, this occasion marks an incredibly proud and significant milestone for the University and everyone who has been part of this journey.
Our graduates have demonstrated tremendous commitment, perseverance and talent throughout their studies, and it was wonderful to see their hard work recognised alongside their friends, families and fellow students. Their achievements are a testament to their determination and ambition, and we are excited to see what they go on to accomplish in the next chapter of their lives.”
The ceremony itself saw friends and family come together to celebrate the achievements of their loved ones, with Shoreditch Town Hall filled with pride and excitement as graduates marked the culmination of their studies.
For many students, the occasion represented the successful completion of years of hard work, balancing their academic commitments alongside their personal and professional responsibilities. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the friendships, experiences and skills developed throughout their time at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿.

A student testimonial video played before the ceremony began, with many of the students reflecting on the pride they felt coming into their big day.
The celebrations were equally significant for the University's academic and professional services teams, who have supported students throughout their studies and helped establish a growing BSU community in London.
Mark McGuinness Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) acted as the MC for both ceremonies and further Professor Andrews’ reflections:
"Our first combined Graduation ceremony in London for students from our Hackney and Canary Wharf campuses represents a significant milestone for ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿. Everyone involved was thrilled to be at the historic Shoreditch Town Hall to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our students in London, who often balance work and care alongside their studies.
Their commitment to learning, community and making a positive impact aligns perfectly with our university values and is the embodiment of Professional Creativity. Well done to each and every one of our graduates - I know everyone at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ wishes them well on the next stage of their career journey"
The first London graduation ceremony also reflects ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿'s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality higher education opportunities to students from a wide range of backgrounds. Through its London campuses, BSU continues to support students in developing the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to pursue their ambitions and take the next steps in their careers.
The graduation ceremony followed another major milestone for ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ in the capital, with its Canary Wharf campus celebrating its first anniversary at the start of October.
Since opening, the Canary Wharf campus has continued to develop its academic provision and student support services, welcoming students across Health and Social Care, Computing and Business Management programmes. The anniversary highlighted the University's growing presence in London, alongside its commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Together, these milestones represent an exciting period for ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ London, demonstrating the continued development of its campuses and the achievements of the students and staff who make up its community.
The first ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ London graduation is only the start, with minds already turning to future celebration events. For now, as the dust settles on another successful day of celebrations, BSU sends its warmest congratulations to all of those who graduated and looks forward to celebrating the achievements of future London cohorts in the years to come.
