Short course

- Explore the printing process in a supportive and experimental environment.
- Set up, make and develop your own prints to bring home afterwards.
Cyanotype, also known as blueprinting or sun-printing, is one of the earliest photographic processes. It is an accessible analogue technique that is easy to learn and offers rich opportunities for experimentation and creative success.
During this Introduction to Cyanotype Printing workshop, you’ll observe the chemistry in action, handle examples, watch demonstrations of different techniques and then try these methods yourself to produce several pieces of work to take home.
This workshop will have a botanical theme and will be relaxed, accessible and sustainable, using plants and flowers provided by the tutor. You may also bring your own botanical materials or forage responsibly from the banks of the Avon beside Locksbrook Campus or one of the nearby green spaces.
Introduction to Cyanotype Printing is designed so everyone can participate at whatever level suits them. The process is experimental so there is no right or wrong.
