Archbishop of Canterbury visits Bath Spa's Students' Union
Wednesday, 16 November, 2016The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, visited ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿â€™s Students’ Union this month. His talk, entitled Faith in the world today: Good, Bad or Indifferent attracted a large crowd and packed out the Students’ Union Bar with students and staff alike who wanted to hear what the Archbishop had to say.
The Archbishop gave a short opening speech about current affairs in relation to faith and then there was a short question and answer session. He was asked a wide range of questions on a number of topics including religion in relation to the recent election of President-Elect Donald Trump, as well as conflicts in Aleppo. He also spoke about his peace retreats in conflict areas.
When asked about his relationship with Pope Francis, the Archbishop said: “Meeting Pope Francis was extraordinary. He is a wonderful, humorous and profound man and we get on extremely well. I respect him as the principal Christian leader as the one who speaks most clearly and with the most courage to the Global Church.
The event was a success and it was a pleasure to have Justin Welby talk to our students and staff.
